Table ronde universitaire – Academic Round Table

The ideas that have been proposed so far (through emails and several partial exchanges between us) can be grouped in three categories:

1. Expertise: some participants to the discussion have proposed that our expertise in housing, reconstruction, disaster mitigation, organizational design, sustainable development, social issues, urban studies, etc. can be offered to local institutions, international agencies, NGOs, etc. This could avoid repeating previous mistakes we have identified in other post-disaster situations.

2. Training: some participants propose that we can contribute to train local professionals (from Haiti) and/or international participants in specific -and highly needed – subjects such as: post-disaster project management, disaster mitigation, disaster management, etc. This can contribute to create a much needed group of local specialists and decision makers that can intervene in the near future.

3. Research and information: there is also the idea of contributing to rebuild databases, exchange information, create new databases, initiative research projects and consolidate knowledge that will be required for informed decision-making

Bien d’accord avec cette formulation de «mission-vision».
